Pre-Mission Risk Scoring for UAS Operations

LAANC tells you if you're allowed to fly.
SkyFiler tells you if you should.

Route-specific risk scoring across terrain, population, weather, obstacles, airspace, and regulatory compliance. A defensible safety case for operators who need more than an airspace authorization receipt.

Authorization is Not Safety

LAANC and USS providers answer one question: "Can I fly in this controlled airspace cell right now?" That is a binary gate for Part 107 operations in controlled airspace. It does not consider terrain along your route, population density under your flight path, powerline crossings, wildlife corridors, or weather at altitude.

Your insurer wants a documented risk assessment. Your enterprise client wants a safety case on file. Part 135 and 137 operators need coverage that LAANC was never designed to provide.

SkyFiler fills that gap.

What Gets Scored

Every route is evaluated across 21 risk domains (8 core, 13 sub-domains) against your actual flight path geometry, altitude profile, and timing. You get a continuous risk score with cited factors for each leg of your mission.

Terrain and Obstacles

Elevation profile, obstacle clearance (towers, buildings, cranes), and terrain-following risk along each leg.

Population Exposure

Census-derived population density under the flight path. Ground risk quantified per leg, not per grid cell.

Weather at Altitude

Wind, visibility, ceiling, precipitation, and convective risk at your planned altitude and time window.

Powerlines and EMI

High-voltage transmission corridor crossings, electromagnetic interference zones, and RF environment.

Airspace and NOTAMs

Controlled and uncontrolled airspace interactions, active TFRs, NOTAMs, and restricted area proximity.

Regulatory Compliance

Cited compliance gates for Parts 91, 107, 108, 135, and 137. References specific CFR sections and AC guidance.

Plus wildlife corridors, airport proximity, water body risk, air risk (manned traffic density), ground infrastructure, and more.

What You Get

GO / CONDITIONAL / NO-GO Verdict

A scored recommendation for your specific route, altitude profile, and time window. One verdict per flight, backed by the full domain breakdown.

Branded PDF Safety Case

A citable document with your risk breakdown, regulatory references, and recommended mitigations. Hand it to your client, insurer, or regulator.

Standards-Aligned Mitigations

Risk mitigations written in the language of your regulatory framework. SORA, JARUS, FAA AC references cited directly so your safety case speaks the reviewer's language.

How It Works

1

Upload Your Route

Import a KML, draw on a map, or define waypoints. Any route geometry, any airspace class.

2

Select Your Framework

Choose your regulatory framework (Part 91, 107, 108, 135, 137) and any applicable exemptions or waivers.

3

Pick Your Airframe

Select from a database of 30+ airframes across sUAS, octocopters, fixed wing, and VTOL. Pro users define custom airframes.

4

Get Scored

21 risk domains evaluated against your route in seconds. 8 core domains, 13 sub-domains, all scored per leg.

5

Download Your Safety Case

A cited PDF with your verdict, domain scores, compliance gates, and recommended mitigations.
